Obituary of Evelyn Ruth Carter

EVELYN RUTH CARTER (nee BERG) July 10, 1911 – October 21, 2013 Evelyn passed away peacefully at Parkside Extendicare, Regina, SK on Monday, October 21, 2013. She is survived by her son Darrell Carter; daughters, Diane Rosvold (Barry), grandchildren, Melanie Francis (John), great-granddaughter Ruby, Brent (Lisa), great-grandchildren, Ava and Eric; Barbara Oxby, grandchildren, Michael (Krista), great-granddaughter Gemma and great-grandson Seth, Nathan (Grace), Brad and Gus the dog; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Evelyn was born and educated in Macoun, SK. She attended normal school in Moose Jaw and taught in various prairie schools for ten years before heading east at the start of WWII. Evelyn served her apprenticeship as a bomb site inspector at the converted Hamilton steel plant before moving to Ottawa to work in the war bond department where she met and married RCMP constable William Carter (1991). Evelyn and Bill returned to Hamilton post war where all four of their children were born. Daughter Joyce died in 1991. The move back to Saskatchewan enabled Evelyn to reconnect with her siblings, all of whom have pre-deceased her.
