Obituary of Mildred Evelyn Reid

MILDRED EVELYN “BUDDY” REID Buddy was born September 14, 1920 in Regina to Cecil and Alberta Tremaine. She passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 31, 2013. Buddy was predeceased by her husband David (1996); grandson Brent (2013); brothers, Bart (Norma) Tremaine, and Bill (Myrtle) Tremaine; sisters, Eulah (Milo) Herom, Dorothy (Jim) Martin and Ruth (Malcolm) Sharp; sisters-in-law, Sybil Tremaine, Ethel (Russ) Nicol and Evelyn (Victor) Gervais; and brother-in-law Clyde Reid. She is survived by her brother Syd Tremaine; her children, Donna Wiest, Shirley (Graham) Bakken, and Doug (Caroline) Reid; grandchildren, Dallas Wiest, Tanya (Henry) Zeyen, Tricia Bakken, Jessica Reid and Brittany Reid; great-grandchildren, Odin, Heidi and Erika Brown. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law May (John) Ruben and Margaret (Gerry) Edwards; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Buddy was born and raised in Regina. The youngest of seven children, she married David Reid on July 27, 1940. Dave went overseas to serve in WWII shortly after their marriage. When he returned, they established their roots in Regina until 1972 when they established a permanent residence at Regina Beach. Buddy was a true homemaker where family was most important. There was always a ‘family pet’ or two around. She was an amazing cook and caregiver to anyone in need. Buddy was an avid churchgoer being involved in all aspects of St. Bartholomew’s Anglican Church while living at Regina Beach. Following some health issues, she moved to Regina and lived at Davis Mews, Regina Village and Santa Maria. Memorial Service will be held at St Paul’s Cathedral, 1861 McIntyre Street, Regina SK on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Buddy, may be made to the Regina Humane Society, PO Box 3143 Stn Main, Regina, SK, S4P 3G7 or the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK, S4P 2R3 or a charity of your choice.
