Obituary of Laura Emilie Corbett

LAURA EMILIE (nee GOSSELIN) CORBETT On Sunday, November 3, 2013, with breaking hearts, the adoring family of Laura Corbett said goodbye to her gentle soul. And with her last breath, an angel who had lived on earth for 58 years was gone. Laura was predeceased by her mother Marguerite (Fleury) Gosselin; her father, James Gosselin; and her sister, Rita Wiepjes. Left to mourn her passing are her husband, Miles Lee Corbett; daughters, Tanya (Jason) Hrycyk, Rochelle (Jan) Menhart, and Leah Corbett; grandchildren, Braydon, Rhett, Grady, Kian, Kyra, Kaden, and Boyd; her four brothers and six sisters; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. On August 11, 1955, in Swan River, Manitoba, Laura was born the 10th of 12 children. She was raised in Bellsite, Manitoba. On June 20, 1979, Laura married the love of her life, Miles Corbett. Together they raised three wonderful daughters. Laura’s love for children resulted in her running a home daycare for over 30 years. Though she leaves far too soon, life is not measured by quantity but by quality− by the love that was given and received. Laura’s life was defined by love. The love she gave was unconditional. Her family was everything to her. Laura was so incredibly blessed to be able to love her husband, her daughters and her grandchildren every single day! She loved, as her own, the many children that were so trustingly left in her nurturing care. Caring for others was as natural and as effortless as eating and sleeping. This was simply Laura’s nature. She was warm, gentle, genuine, self-less and strong. Over the last several years, as her body fought hard and as the pain increased, her spirit remained ever strong. Though never yielding to it, Laura accepted her illness with grace and dignity. Her memory will continue to inspire those whom Laura loved and her spirit will continue to live in those loving hearts that she so nurtured and cared for all these many years. Memorial Service in Celebration of Laura's Life will be held at Lakeview United Church, 3200 McCallum Avenue, Regina, SK on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Laura's memory, to the Scleroderma Society of Saskatchewan, 465 Willow Bay, Estevan, SK S4A 2G3.
