Obituary of Michael Obarianyk

MICHAEL OBARIANYK Michael, late of Regina, SK, died Tuesday, May 15, 2012. He was born on November 16, 1932 on the family farm north of Secretan. He completed grade school education at Jefferson School and high school at Campion College, after which he attended St. Josephs Seminary. Michael, following four years in the Seminary, attended the U of S, the U of R, and the U of T, taking a variety of courses. This prepared him for his career as the owner and operator of The Fun House. Socializing with people, for Michael, combined with his love for jokes and pranks was the ideal calling. He loved his family deeply, including his extended family, expecting nothing in return. He was a deeply religious man where practising the Catholic faith was as important as breathing. Michael was predeceased by his parents Michael and Eva; by his brothers Vladimir (Oliva), John, Alexander, Father Basil (Reverend), and Nicholas (Gaylene); sisters Mary Obarianyk in childhood and Anne Forsberg (Edward); and brother-in-law Anthony Matwe. Michael is survived by his loving wife of 39 years Christina; and daughters Andria and Maria of whom he was very proud; sisters Mrs. Katherine Matwe, Miss Stephanie Obarianyk and Mrs. Olga Hasselback (Robert); sister-in-law Ann Obarianyk; as well as many nieces and nephews. Flowers gratefully declined. For the repose of the soul of Michael, contributions of Mass Stipend can be made to any priest of the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of SK (Saskatoon). Prayers will be held on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. and Divine Liturgy will be held on Monday, May 21, 2012 at 10:00 a.m., both services will be held at St. Basils Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1747 Toronto Street, Regina, SK, conducted by Very Rev. Mitrat Vladimir Mudri, S.T.L. Interment Monday, May 21, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. at St. Peter and Paul Church, Thunder Creek, SK, six miles north of #1 highway on Valjean Road.
