The world has lost a wonderful man. Brian was a mentor and an inspiration to me and so many other in our Police K9 community. I admired his dedication to our craft and willingness to share his vast knowledge. I will miss our many conversations into the late hours of the night. Brian, you taught me a lot. Rest in peace my friend.

To George, Louise, Diane, Cannie, Eileen, Michelle, Jeannine & Karl (and families)
Our deepest sympathies to all of you at this very sad time. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Brian was a very special man. It was always nice when he would stop by for a visit when he was out our way. He had a profession that he put his heart and soul into and we were so very proud of him for his work with the CPCA!
May he rest in peace!

Brian was the first in alphabetical order and faced directly across the horseshoe-shaped room from me in CPS Recruit Class #71, starting 1977 June 6. I am deeply saddened to hear only now of Brian's passing. His sense of humour, commitment to learning and maturity in a class of very fresh young men and women provided leadership, stability and encouragement for us all. I wish I had the opportunity to work with Brian after graduation and to know him better. I remember his character clearly as having been that of a good man with a playful spirit.
To Brian's family, please accept my heartfelt condolences for such a sad and difficult loss. May your spirits heal in time and your memories carry him with you.
Blessings.

Cannie and family,
I was saddened to hear the news of Brian's passing knowing that he had just made a trip to Ontario in November to testify in defense of a police K9 handler at a civil trial. Brian never took time off from his passion - police dogs. Brian was truly a remarkable man who had a profound impact on my development as a police k9 trainer. I first met Brian at a CPCA seminar in Winnipeg and we forged a friendship from there on. Every year before he fell ill he would stop in to visit us in Ontario and spend a few days watching our training. I spent countless hours speaking with Brian attempting to absorb his immense knowledge and experience with dogs and training theories. He never tired and he always had time to talk dogs with me. Brian battled his illness with remarkable strength and determination, always looking for the positives during his recovery. He will be solely missed by many. God bless you Brian and may you rest in peace my friend.

The world has lost a great man and amazing teacher.. Brian happened into my training facility one day and became a good friend and fountain of knowledge. I remember just listening to him talk and trying to take it all in. I will never forget his infectious smile and calm, gentle demeanour.. Rest in peace Brian, I will hold your memory dear always.

Dear Cannie
We grew to know you and Brian over the past 8 years as neigbours. We admired "the quiet, gentle man" who live next door. We saw him in his struggles with illness and your loneliness as he moved to Wascana. May the days ahead become brighter and your pain slowly lessen.

Brain & I were colleagues in the CPS Canine Unit in the '80's where we learned together, laughed together, and were fortunate enough to be successful handlers and officers. He and Eileen were always welcoming in their home, while Brian was generous with his time and knowledge. His life's work was to leave this a better place than when he found it with his determination, work ethic and positive attitude.
My deepest sympathies are extended to his family and many friends at this time of loss.

Having been away from Calgary for a while I hadn't heard Brian's name in some time, however, it immediately brought back memories of a kind and sincere man. I had the privilege of working the downtown with Brian and even during the darker days, he always made you feel like things were going to be OK. His mischievous smile kept you guessing, especially when he was luring you into a false sense of security... while he pranked you with some silly story. He was a good man and in passing, his kindness continues as he leaves us with such fond memories.
