Obituary of Lily Currie

LILY CURRIE (nee Clarke) Lily, born January 3, 1923 in Fulham, London, United Kingdom, passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2013. Predeceased by her husband, Hugh (in 1984), whom she met and married in Fulham in 1941, while he was stationed in London during World War II as a member of the Canadian Armed Forces. Lily was also predeceased by her mother, Emily Clarke (1940); father, Albert Clarke (1961); brother, Albert Clarke Jr. (1989); and daughters, Pat Arcand (2005), and Bev Barlow (2007). Lily is survived by her son, Roy (Helen) Currie; sons-in-law, Burns (Wendy) Barlow and Les Arcand; grandchildren, Donald Arcand, Tad Arcand, Jody Arcand, Tara (Albert) Arcand, John Currie and Rob (Natasja) Barlow; great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Sky, Alyse, Tyler, Abigail, Kayden, Sayrsa, Mitchell, Stephanie, Shayna, Ryley, Siovhan, Ryder, Rylan, Dylan and Lennon; and great-great-grandchildren Heaven-Leigh and Cattleya. Lily was a war bride and immigrated to Canada in 1945. Hugh and Lily took up residence in Regina, where they resided their entire lives. Lily was a lifelong member of the Saskatchewan War Brides Association, the Eastern Star, and, until it closed its doors last year, Rosemont United Church. During her last years she enjoyed reading, crafts, and word puzzles, but most of all, time spent visiting with friends and family. We will miss her laughter. The family wishes to thank the staff of Dove Care Home, Chronic Kidney Disease Centre, and Dr. Pervaiz, and the staff of 4A at Pasqua Hospital for their kind care. Memorial Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK next Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Robert Kitchen officiating.
