Obituary of Ethel Rosalie McIntyre

With family by her side, Ethel passed away peacefully Sunday, January 5, 2014 at the age of 89 years. Ethel was born in Kennedy, Saskatchewan on October 19, 1924, where she lived until she graduated from Grade 12. She took a secretarial course at Balfour Technical School, following which she was employed by the accounting firm Read, Smith & Forbes. She married Wilson on July 3, 1948 and moved to Saskatoon where they spent their married life working, volunteering and raising their family. In 2002 Ethel moved to Regina Village where she spent 10 happy years enjoying numerous activities and many great visits from her family. Ethel was an active and caring volunteer throughout her life. She was dedicated to her family and spent many hours doing whatever she could to help others. Her quiet, caring manner will be remembered always. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 51 years, Wilson (1999), parents Caroline and William Edwards, sister and brother-in-law, Irene and Frank harper, brother-in law Don McIntyre and sister-in-law Margaret. Survived by: her brother Bill Edwards (Noreen) of Regina, SK, her son Justice Wayne McIntyre (Connie) and their children, Dr. Joan MacLennan (Dave) of Winnipeg, MB and great grandchildren Mathew and Jacob, Rob Ramsay (Shelley) of Kimberly, BC and great grandchildren, MacGreogor, Jamie and Gracie; Paul Ramsay (Laura) of Belvidere, Il. and great granddaughter Abby, daughter Carolyn (Susan) of Winnipeg, MB, son Ross McIntyre (Debbie) and their daughter Amanda. Nephews and nieces, Carol Mills (Rick) of Broadview, SK, Dr. Richard Edwards (Laurie) of Calgary, AB, Murray Edwards (Heather) of Calgary, AB, Dr. Lori Edwards of Regina, SK, Gordon McIntyre of Vancouver, BC, Anne Keyuk (John) of Birch Hills, SK and numerous great-nephews and great-nieces. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Sandra Rayson. Your kindness and caring over the last few years has been very much appreciated. The family would also like to thank all of the staff and Helping Hands for their excellent care. Funeral Service will be at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 3:00 pm. A Celebration of Ethel’s life will be at Mayfair United Church, 902-33rd Street West, Saskatoon, on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at 12:00pm. Interment at 2:00 pm at Woodlawn Cemetery in Saskatoon to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ethel’s memory to the Canadian Diabetic Association, 917 Albert Street, Regina.
