Obituary of Shirleen Pearl Thompson

Shirleen “Sheriff” Thompson (nee Wahpoosewyan) fought her battle with cancer bravely and died peacefully with her family by her side. She will be forever cherished and lovingly remembered by her husband Otto; and their children, Heather (Quincy), Judy (Darcy), Lionel, Tony, Presley (Leslie), Jamie, Jimmy, Leslie, Alexis (Garth), Christopher, Shelly and Monica; twenty-eight grandchildren; and her special adopted grandson “Carlos”. Her brothers, Fred, Orval, Mervin and Barry will also treasure her memory. Sheriff will be greatly missed and spoken of fondly and often at the table by her Poker Players. Many other family and friends will miss her terribly. Shirleen was predeceased by her parents, Jimmy Wahpoosewyan and Bertha Assiniboine; her brothers, Dennis, Donald, Keith and Harold; her sister Sandra; and her grandsons, Drake Dustyhorn and Jack Thompson in infancy. The family would like to thank the Staff of Pasqua Hospital Palliative Care and Wascana Grace Hospice for the excellent care received. Also, the family would like to thank Renee Legrand of Speers Funeral Chapel for the excellent pre-planning service and support. Finally, the family would like to thank Jolie for coming to be with her in the last few days, and the many other family and friends who supported Shirleen and her family in the days and months prior. The Wake will be held at the Elders Hall, Little Pine First Nation on Monday, January 13, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will take place at the Elders Hall, Little Pine First Nation on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Little Pine Cemetery.
