Obituary of Belva Anne Fredrickson

Belva, late of Regina, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 after saying goodbye to her family. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Homer John Fredrickson; parents Sylvester and Ida (Zastrow) Garritty; and sister Carol. Belva is survived by her two sons, Greg and his special friend Michelle, Garth, his wife Leslie Ciz and their children Kate and Cole, all of Regina. Belva was born on September 13, 1929 on the farm at SE 34-7-17, W2nd near Trossachs, Saskatchewan and where she received her early education through to grade 12. At the age of 16, she moved to Regina to attend Business College. After graduation, she worked for the Department of Agriculture where she met her husband Homer Fredrickson. They married on October 17, 1953. After working for the civil service, she was employed at CKCK Radio and CKCK TV upon its opening. She stayed at CKCK until the birth of her first son, Greg. The family expressly recognizes the special relationship between Belva and her personal physician, Dr. Stephen Bester for a period of well over 20 years. Stephen’s critical insight and ability to guide Belva and her family in treatment decision making resulted in a comfortable and confidant process through a difficult time. Funeral Service will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 3825 Hillsdale Street, Regina on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Jim Chimirri-Russell officiating. Interment in Regina Memorial Gardens at 1:00 p.m. Flowers gratefully declined. Friends so wishing may make donations to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or to a charity of choice.
