Obituary of Florence Patricia Torgunrud

Florence "Sunny" passed away peacefully on Friday, January 31, 2014 at the age of 85 years. She was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan and grew up on the family farm. Sunny was predeceased by her parents Tom and Agnes Stewart. She is survived by her husband Maurice; sons Craig (Linda), and Dave (Tim Rushton); step-grandson Peter (Caroline) and Evan Armstrong; sisters Jean Milligan and Marguerite Ford (Denys); lifelong friends Isabel Hayman, Betty Anderson, Kathleen Shotbolt, and many other dear friends, nieces and nephews. Sunny was devoted to helping others in the community through volunteer work with numerous organizations including Epilepsy Saskatchewan, where she was a founding member and executive director. She spent many years as a volunteer with the Plains and General Hospitals and as a Parent Aide. She received the Canada Volunteer Award in recognition of outstanding voluntary service. Throughout her life she had a keen interest in learning, expressed through her love of reading and completing her Bachelor of Social Work and certificate in Human Justice while in her 60's. Sunny loved to laugh and possessed a quick wit and smile. By Sunny's request a service will not be held.
