Obituary of Ellen D. Millar

ELLEN D. MILLAR Ellen D. Millar was born on May 2, 1963 in Regina to Leslie and Dianne Millar. Surrounded by her loving family, Ellen passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the age of 50 years, while in the care of the Regina General Hospital. As a child Ellen was ‘daddy’s girl’, was bubbly, loved life and loved books. She attended Regent Park School and completed high school at Thom Collegiate. Despite a car accident which resulted in the loss of one leg, Ellen went on to take evening classes and earn a certificate in accounting at SIAST. At age 16, Ellen worked evenings in the kitchen of Pioneer Village. She loved cooking and she loved working with people. Later she pursued an accounting career with Deloitte and Touche Accountants, and then with the Royal Bank. Ever a nose for business, she bought an apartment early in her career. Ellen joined Spence Miller as his life partner in 1998, and they married in Mexico in 2008. Not only partners in life, they were partners in business. Ellen did the accounting and managed the office for their firm Envision Flooring. Ellen, despite various health problems, loved life to its fullest. Together with Spence, they made five trips to Mexico, numerous train trips to Seattle and camping trips in their motorhome with their two cats. She enjoyed riding on the back of their Harley. Ellen was predeceased by her father, Leslie Millar. She is survived by her husband Spence Miller; her mother Dianne Millar and brother Everette Millar, both of Regina; and her grandmother Anne Fitzpatrick, aged 99, of Moose Jaw; as well as numerous cousins, aunts and uncles. Friends and family are invited to share in the Celebration of Ellen’s Life at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ellen may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 279 - 3rd Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK, S7K 2H8.
