Obituary of Arthur James McIntosh

ARTHUR JAMES “JIM” McINTOSH Jim, formerly of LeRoy, SK, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2014 in Regina, SK at the age of 94. He was predeceased by his wife, Jean. Jim was also predeceased by sisters, Margaret and Jean (Dean); brothers, Stanley and John (Hazel); sisters-in-law, Marion, Ruth (Chuck), Doreen and Dorothy (Tom); brother-in-law Ross; and nephew Marvin. Jim is survived by his children, Lynne, Maureen (Dennis), Glenn (Sylvia), Sharon, Don (Judy) and Doug (Hye-Kyung); brothers-in-law, Don Campbell, Spencer Murray, and Dave Currie; grandchildren, Nicole (Kevin), Tricia (Steve), Andrea (Lorenzo), Colin (Kelly) and great-grandchildren, Dylan, Katie, Jayden, Jordan, Jorjia, Dominic, Marcus and Juliet. Dad is also survived by nieces, Shelley, Shirley, Sandra, Colleen and Marion; nephews, Gary, Brian, Ross, Bob, Myron and Forbes and many friends. Dad was born in Watson, SK to parents, Alexander McIntosh and Mabel Coleman. He grew up in LeRoy, SK, attending Newnham School during his childhood. WWII intervened in his studies and he volunteered for wartime duty (as did many young men and women of his generation) with the RCAF as a flight crew member (gunnery). Jim was stationed at many training sites including Dafoe, SK, High River, AB, St. Thomas, ON and Prince Edward Island. After the war years, he enrolled in the Agriculture School at the University of Saskatchewan. While in Saskatoon he met our mother, Jean, who was attending secretarial school at the time. Upon graduation Mom and Dad married in Saskatoon, March 22, 1950. They subsequently took over the family farm at LeRoy where they raised their family. After the loss of our dear Mom, Dad retired from the family farm and took up residence at the Evergreen Country Home in LeRoy. His final months were spent at the Wascana Veteran’s Centre in Regina. Dad was a quiet man with simple tastes and pleasures. He took pride in the achievements of his children and grandchildren. He was especially proud of his great-grandchildren. We would like to extend a special thank-you to the staff of the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre, Veterans Wing, Unit 3-5 and to the staff of Evergreen Country Homes for the expert care provided to Dad. Sleep well Dad, you so deserve it! A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Those so wishing may make a donation in Jim’s memory to the charity of your choice.
