Obituary of Jean Black

JEAN BLACK Jean, late of Regina, SK, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at the age of 99 years. She was predeceased by her parents John and Agnes Black, and her siblings. Jean is survived by her grandnieces: Jean Kerr, Joan Wells, Donna White and Jennifer Johnson; grandnephew Patrick Black and their families. Born in Armadale, Scotland on December 21, 1912, she came to Canada in May of 1947. While in Scotland, Jean farmed but came to Canada to help her brother farm in Southey, shortly after his wifes passing. In 1964 she moved to Regina where she has resided since. She was an active lawn bowler and was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame in 1983. Jean remained an active lawn bowler until the age of 91, when a fall prevented her from continuing. Jean was also an active member of the First Presbyterian Church. There will be no formal funeral service. Jeans cremated remains will be interred with her parents in Armadale, Scotland.
