Obituary of Erika Elisabeth Kaip

ERIKA ELISABETH KAIP April 12, 1927 – March 20, 2014 We are deeply saddened to announce that on Thursday, March 20, 2014, Erika peacefully passed away in her sleep at age 86. Erika was born April 12, 1927 in Jena, Germany; married November 10, 1945 in Dornburg, Germany and immigrated to Canada in 1957, where she along with her husband and two children proceeded to create a new life in a new country. She was predeceased by her husband John (Heinz); her parents, Erich and Hedwig Thelemann; her sister Margarethe; her brothers, Horst and Adolf; parents-in-law, brothers-in-law; sister-in-law, nephew and great-nephew. She will be remembered by her daughter Elizabeth; son Rolf (Debi nee Wiens) Kaip; grandchildren, Amanda (Marc) Lung, Karla (Merritt) Kaip-Filban and Lucas Kaip; sister Christa Kannenwischer; brother Lutz (Connie) Thelemann of Germany; nieces, Maria (Lorne) Dobrowolski, Ursula (John) Machutta, Erika (Kenton) DuMont; nephews, Horst (Dianne) Kannenwischer, Mark (Susan) Kannenwischer, along with their families, as well as numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends around the world. Erika enjoyed music, reading, gardening, baking and life in general. Thank you to the staff of Unit 2-5 at the Wascana Rehabilitation Center for the care and compassion given to Erika these past few weeks. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1909 Ottawa Street, Regina, SK, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan Inc., 301 - 2550 - 12th Avenue, Regina, SK, S4P 3X1.
