Obituary of Frances Mary Alberts

FRANCES MARY ALBERS August 31, 1929 – March 28, 2014 It is with sadness that the family of Frances Albers announces her passing. Predeceased by her parents Anton and Katherine Schmidt; first husband, Frank Afterchuk (in 1999); son, Wayne Afterchuk (in 1981). Frances is survived and will be sadly missed by her husband, Sylvester “Fess” Albers; daughters, Roberta (Greg) Weaver, and Myrna (Dave) Pauls; eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; brother, Lenard Schmidt; numerous nieces and nephews. Frances, with her brother, Leonard, was raised on the family farm north of Viceroy. She married Frank Afterchuk, October 10, 1950 and had one son, Wayne, and two daughters, Roberta and Myrna. They farmed the “old Fred Taylor” place west of Bengough for over 45 years before moving into Bengough, when Frank lost his battle to cancer in 1999. In 2004 Frances married Sylvester “Fess” Albers. They resided in Bengough until they moved to Regina in August, 2012. Known as a hard worker, Frances enjoyed square dancing, playing cards, and travelling. She lost her courageous battle to cancer. A Prayer Service will be held this evening at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina SK on Monday, March 31, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place at St. Michael’s R.C. Church, Bengough, SK, on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Interment in Bengough Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Frances, may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, SK Branch, #1 – 2217 Hanselman Court, Saskatoon SK, S7L 9Z9.
