Obituary of Christina 'May' Gellner

CHRISTINA “MAY” GELLNER Christina passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014 at Sunset Extendicare at the age of 88 years, 8 months. She was predeceased by her parents Chris and Armilda Mickelson; two sisters Ethel and Irene Nesbitt; two brothers Lee and Amos Mickelson; three grandchildren, Tasha Marie, Mark and Brent Gellner; and her loving husband Herb. May is survived by her children, Lanny Gellner of Strathmore, AB, Perry (Bev) Gellner of Avonlea, SK, Terry (Lani) Gellner of Caron, SK and Sharlene (John) Nomura of Regina; nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. May was raised on a farm in the Southey District. In 1945, she married Herb Gellner and they farmed there for 12 years before moving to Regina. May loved her family, her church, camping, gardening, reading, knitting and she was a staunch supporter of the Regina Pats Hockey club. She faithfully attended their games for many years. May was a member of many church and senior organizations, a Monday morning coffee group and was also an avid square dancer, an activity she shared with her husband Herb. In 2002, she moved to Benson Manor and was very happy there until her health determined that she needed more care. A Memorial Service will be held at St. James United Church, 4506 Sherwood Drive, Regina on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park.
