Obituary of Vincent O'Leary Coffey

VINCENT O’LEARY COFFEY Vince Coffey, 94, passed away at Regina Pioneer Village in Regina on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014. He was born on August 15, 1919 and was raised on the farm at Carlyle SK. Vince attended high school at Campion College in Regina where he lived in residence during the school years. In 1943, after earning his degree in Agriculture at the University of Saskatchewan, Vince embarked on a long and successful career with the Federal Department of Agriculture in Livestock Production and Marketing in Regina. There he met Simone, they married in 1951 and together they raised their six children. Vince was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Veronica Coffey as well as his brother George Anderson “Sandy” of Carlyle. Vince is survived by Simone, his wife of 63 years; his children, Margaret Curts of Calgary, Janet (Spencer) Early of Saskatoon, Sharon (Len) Clarke of Vernon, BC, Donna-Mae (Pat) Byrne of Vancouver, Tom (Joy) of Bermuda and Fred of Regina; twelve grandchildren, Rob, Joey and Sarah Curts, Andrea (Granberg) and John Early, Reid, Sarah and Alison Clarke, Suzanne and Julia Byrne, and Alexander and Grace Coffey; three great-grandchildren, Jackson Curts, and Anya and Hudson Granberg; as well as Sandy’s wife Clara and their children Dennis, Cameron, Pat, Greg, Lynn, Michael and Norma. Throughout his life Vince maintained an active interest in his extended family and activities on the farm. Vince was a genuine gentle man who enjoyed a life well lived. The family is very grateful to the kind and loving care from the wonderful staff on 4W at Regina Pioneer Village where he spent his last three months. In lieu of flowers, should you so desire, donations may be made to Regina Pioneer Village at the Hospitals of Regina Foundation for Regina Pioneer Village, Unit 4-West, PO Box 1697 Stn Main, Regina, SK, S4P 3C6, to improve the comfort and quality of life for the residents who resided there with Vince. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church, 1701 Cowan Crescent, Regina, SK on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.
