Carolyn Hamlyn (nee Enefer) posted a condolence

Dear Margaret
We have just been back to St Michael's Church, Basingstoke, (we now live in Hereford) remembering our wedding there nearly 50 years ago, conducted by Canon Norman Woodhall, the vicar at that time, and your husband Derek. I decided to Google your names just now and realise that Derek died some 4 years ago. Despite not knowing then, I felt I had to send condolences to you and your family as he was always well remembered in Basingtoke, especially by my parents Harold and Brenda Enefer from St Peter's Church. They are no longer with us but I know they would want me to contact you and send our love to you all.
Carolyn and Nick Hamlyn

My wife and I will always cherish the friendship we had with Derek. We met first through the Monarchist League. His involvement with dedicating first the site and then the cairn proper that the Regina Branch (Saskatchewan) United Empire Loyalists Association of Canada built on the legislative grounds in 2005 will always be treasured. His hospital visits in January 2010 did much to help us through her trauma with cancer.
Please extend our sincere sympathy to all family members at this time

To Margaret and Family
We were so very sorry to learn of Derek's death. Derek's dedicated work with members of the faith in Anglican churches and parishes, with the Monarchist League of Canada, with the Royal Canadian Legion, and so many others, will long be remembered.
Derek's gentle sincerity was a special talent in comforting those who mourned, or who needed spiritual assistance in dealing with life's problems. He will be greatly missed, not only by the family but by the church and the wider community.
We are so very sorry that we will be unable to be with you at Derek's Memorial Eucharist, because of prior medical commitments. But please know that our hearts and prayers will be with you.
Grant and Pat Wagner

The Reverend Derek will be sorely missed in the Regina community! His kindness and caring helped our family greatly, and I was always grateful for his compassion to the seniors he visited. Although there is sorrow at his passing, there should also be celebration of the way he lived, and what he meant to all of us!

From the entire Pollock family to the Nicholls family, our deepest sympathy. Reverend Nicholls shared some of our best days with our family, and got us through some very dark days last year, with the passing of our mother, and then with the service for her. We adored him, and are grateful for everything he did for us. We will miss him.
