Obituary of George Albert Schienbein

GEORGE ALBERT SCHIENBEIN 1928 – 2014 George died peacefully after a stroke on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 86 years of age. Born in Cupar, SK on April 23, 1928, he was the last of his family’s generation with six siblings predeceasing him. George was employed by the City of Regina for 35 years. It was at City Hall that he met Margie Kirbyson and they were married in 1959 and were happily married for 54 years. He was a loving father to Dale and Lee Anne and took great delight in his two grandchildren, Sam and Megan. His extended family included Tanya, Bary, nieces, nephews, cousins and sisters-in-law. Generous, thoughtful and kind, George enjoyed 26 years of retirement. Highlights included time with family and friends, cheering on the Saskatchewan Roughriders and watching any Canadian hockey team. Rarely idle, he enjoyed working in his yard and maintained his home with pride and care. He was a proud member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and Grace Lutheran Church. A Funeral Service will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 3825 Hillsdale Street, Regina, SK on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Chimirri-Russell officiating.
