Obituary of Leola Edna May Harron
LEOLA EDNA MAY HARRON
Our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Leola Edna May Harron passed away on June 11, 2012. Leola was born on May 9, 1916 to Edith and Roy Bedford at Francis, SK. Her parents were both deceased prior to her 6th birthday and Mom, along with her sister Alma Ruth, were then raised by their maternal grandparents John and Rebecca Annis. She was also predeceased by our father, Leonard Greenfield in 1951, her husband Bill Seaman in 1994, her sister Alma (Kovarik) in 1999 and husband Bill Herron in 2000.
Surviving are her three children: Gary (Pat) Greenfield, Sherwood Park, AB, Arleen (Norman) Patrick, Regina and Bev Greenfield, Regina; grandchildren: Scott Greenfield, Edmonton, AB, Shawn Greenfield, Sherwood Park, AB, Patrick (Dana) Greenfield, Sherwood Park, AB, Janis Patrick (Ken From), Regina, Lori Patrick (Doug Woodside), Regina, Hilary Dove, Regina, Heather Dove, Calgary, AB and Chris (Stephanie) Dove, Regina; great-grandchildren: Ashley, Alexander, Devon, Paige, Haley, Hannah, Amie, Katie, Eric, Sam, Luke, Lucas and Abigail.
Mom lived a long and full life, and although she faced many obstacles and challenges, her positive attitude and sense of humour saw her through. She was orphaned at age 5 and widowed at a young age, leaving her with three children to raise. In order to support her family she began her career as a proofreader with the Regina Leader Post in 1954. She held this position until her retirement in 1982. She was an amazing storyteller and could relate events that happened as far back as her early childhood. Many of her stories and poems she compiled into a book so her younger descendants could read what life was like during her youth, the depression years, pre and post war years. We will miss you Mom, your sheer determination, knowledge, acute memory and amazing ability to entertain with a joke or a story were with you to the end. Rest in peace dear mom. As mom was a supporter of the Royal Canadian Legion, donations to the legion in her memory would be appreciated by the family. Memorial Service will be held at Riverside Memorial Park Chapel, 815 Assiniboine Avenue East, Regina, SK on Friday, June 15, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Donations may be mailed to the Royal Canadian Legion, 1820 Cornwall Street, Regina, SK, S4P 2K2. AFTER IVE GONE by Leola Harron
Think of me fondly now and then
Remember me often but mostly when
Night shades are falling and evening is nigh
At the setting of sun or when the full moon is high
When the stars are a-twinkle and soft breezes blow
When the earth is at peace and the rivers run slow
Think of me tenderly on an April morn
When the wild geese return and life is reborn
May the warm days of summer my spirit recall
Or when the days shorten with coming of fall
When snow covers all with a mantle of white
And the coyotes call on a clear winter night
Think of me often in all that you see
Let each of lifes beauties remind you of me
And youll know though Ive gone
Im not very far
You can reach out and touch me
Wherever you are.
