Obituary of Brian Wayne Huggins

BRIAN HUGGINS September 20, 1954 - June 1, 2014 Brian Wayne Huggins, late of Regina, SK passed away peacefully with family by his side on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at the age of 59 after a brief, intense battle with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Brian loved Saskatchewan, particularly the outdoors. He was happiest when he was camping, quadding, burning up the highway on his motorcycle or snowshoeing in ridiculously cold weather, preferably with grandchildren in tow. Our annual family camping weekend was his favorite weekend of the year. Brian was born in Winnipeg, but lived in many Saskatchewan communities for most of his life. He was very devoted to his family and thoroughly enjoyed his roles as husband, father and especially Grandpa. Brian’s career with SaskPower spanned 36 years. He was a power lineman for over 20 years where he was focused on safety and exemplary customer service. His union involvement in IBEW 2067 led to two stints as Assistant Business Manager in the union office. In the ten years preceding his retirement, he moved into SaskPower management, ending his career in 2010 as their Manager of Labour Relations. Brian is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Wall; daughter Suzanne Huggins; stepdaughters, Michelle (Dion) Walker, Kelly (Chris) Tunison; grandchildren, Savannah and Daelen Bowman, Sarah and Tyler Walker, and Josie and Charlotte Tunison; his mother and stepfather, Evie and Ed Kaminski, father and stepmother, Wayne and Phyllis Huggins; siblings, Gary (Paulette) Huggins, Allison (Brian) Buri; and five nieces. He is also survived by Sharon’s parents, Jake and Sue Wall; her brothers Dale (Nancy) Wall and Ron (Diana) Wall and their children. The family would like to sincerely thank the doctors and staff at the Pasqua and Regina General Hospitals, particularly the nursing staff on 3B at the Pasqua, Dr. Duffy and Dr. Dolata for the care they provided to Brian during his lengthy hospital stay. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Brian, may be made to Friends of 3B, Pasqua Hospital c/o Hospitals of Regina Foundation Inc., Box 1697 Stn Main, Regina, SK, S4P 3C6 or Dying with Dignity, 802 – 55 Eglinton Avenue East, Toronto, ON, M4P 1G8.
