Obituary of Irene Lamothe

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother, Irene Lamothe at the age of 89 on Friday, May 30, 2014. She was predeceased by her husband Leo in October 1997. Irene is survived by her seven loving children, one son Doug Lamothe of Regina, six daughters, Heather (Bob) Rieger, Bonnie (Bob) Stewart, Candy Hawkes, Paula Klassoff, all of Regina, Janine Lamothe of Saskatoon, and Michelle (Rick) Ellingson of Cranbrook B.C. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, Renee (Terry) Fries, Deanna (William) Isabelle, Carrie (Todd) Gall, Nicole Stewart (Joel), Emma Lee (Ian), Lira Lee (Jarod), Nina Zettl (Ben), Laura Kobayashi (Justin), Michael Kobayashi (Kelsie), Alex Ellingson, Brad Crawford (Aleda), Lindsay Crawford (Joey), Kerina, Katie Rose and Kash Klassoff; 23 great-grandchildren, Jessalyn, Nicholas, Shelbi and Abigail Fries, Cody and Toran Dreher, Lisette and Liam Isabelle, Paityn, Halle and Mya Gall, Ryland, Josten and Logan Stewart, Nyla Rai Qetzal, Will, Ella and Aurora Zettl, Khristian Klassoff and Kohana McCusker; 2 great-great-grandchildren Layla and Lacy Fries; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was an intelligent woman who always wanted a career as well as raising seven children. She worked fulltime throughout her life for both the provincial and federal governments before retiring at the age of 65. Mom was very active in politics and worked with the Liberal Party for years. Mom was very compassionate towards others less fortunate and generously donated to numerous charities throughout her lifetime. She will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts. The Funeral Service will be held at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3510 Queen Street, Regina, SK on Monday, June 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan Inc., 301 – 2550 – 12th Avenue, Regina, SK, S4P 3X1.
