Obituary of Gary Peter Gettle

GARY PETER GETTLE 1961 – 2014 It is with great sadness that the family of Gary Gettle announces his passing after a lengthy battle with cancer. He passed peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at the age of 53 with his family by his side. Gary was predeceased by his granddaughter Zara Gettle and his father Rudolph Gettle. He is survived by his two sons, Shawn (Casey) and Chad (Kathleen); grandchildren, Payton and Holt; mother Aurelia Gettle; siblings, Glenda Popa, Garth (Tracey) Gettle, Gayleen (Shaun) Semple and Greg (Heather) Gettle; numerous nieces and nephews and his lifelong friend Doug Watts. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Throughout Gary’s childhood he LOVED spending time with his grandparents at their farm and spoke of it with great fondness until the very end. Gary was an avid sports fan and loved fishing and the peace and quiet of the time spent at his cabin. He was also passionate about the horse races and over the years made many trips to Las Vegas. Over the years Gary enjoyed helping out by taking his nephews to their numerous practices and attending their various games. At Gary’s request, a Private Family Graveside will be held at Oakshela Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make a donation in Gary’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre St, Regina, SK, S4P 2R3.
