Obituary of William Henry George Edwards
WILLIAM “BILL” HENRY GEORGE EDWARDS
February 3, 1931 – June 17, 2014
Bill passed away peacefully with family by his side on Tuesday, June 17, 2014. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Caroline Edwards and sisters, Irene (Frank) Harper and Ethel (Wilson) McIntyre. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Noreen; children, son Dr. Richard (Laurie) Edwards and children Paul and David, son Dr. N. Murray (Heather) Edwards and child Adam, and daughter Dr. Lori Edwards; brother-in-law Murray (Anne) Flynn; six nieces and nephews and their families, Carol (Rick) Mills, Justice Wayne (Connie) McIntyre, Carolyn (Susan) McIntyre, Ross (Debbie) McIntyre, Trevor (Wendy) Flynn and Deanna (Erv) Wiebe. He completed high school in Kennedy, SK then went to the University of Saskatchewan receiving a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in 1951. He wrote his Chartered Accountant examinations in 1954 and was successful. Bill and Noreen were married June 26, 1954. He worked at Clarkson, Gordon and Co., Office of the Provincial Auditor, Coopers and Lybrand and his own firm for 25 years. Bill was also very active in his community, a lifelong volunteer and member of the Saskatchewan Amateur Hockey Association receiving many awards from both the Saskatchewan and Canadian Amateur Hockey Associations. He was also involved with Boy Scouts, Kiwanis Club of Wascana, Regina Lions Jr. Band, and was a charter member of Wesley United Church. His commitment to his community has served as a legacy and example for all who knew him. The family would like to thank the staff at the Victoria Park Personal Care Community, 6F and the Dialysis Unit at the Regina General Hospital for their care of Bill. The Funeral Service will be held at Wesley United Church, 3913 Hillsdale Street, Regina, SK on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Cindy Bourgeois presiding. In lieu of flowers, those so wishing may make a donation in memory of Bill, to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Southern Saskatchewan, 917 Albert Street, Regina, SK, S4R 2P6.
