Obituary of Norman Wallace Headford

NORMAN HEADFORD Norman Headford, late of Lumsden, SK passed away with his loving wife, Sophie, by his side on Thursday, June 19, 2014. He was born on the family farm at Kedleston, SK in December, 1938. Norman grew up in the area, going to school at Moorland and Kedleston schools and then he boarded in Prince Albert with Roy and Mildred (née Brandon) Martin while finishing school. He trained as an electrician and spent time in Elliot Lake, Uranium City and Regina before starting his own business, Headford Electric in 1967. Norman and Sophie met in Regina and were married in 1963. He was successful in operating a thriving company and met and made friends with many customers and other business owners throughout Saskatchewan. Even after deciding to “semi-retire”, he continued to do work for a number of local customers. Norman was on the board of Lumsden Manor and Lumsden Beach Camp and spent many hours doing volunteer work for them. Norman and Sophie raised and raced Husky dogs for a few years, and traveled in Australia, New Zealand, throughout the US and Canada. Norman was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Gwyneth (née Rose) Headford; brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Barbara Headford; and brother-in-law Albert Redford. He is survived by his wife Sophie; sister Noreen Redford (Victoria, BC); Sophie’s sisters and brother-in-law, Priscilla Hammond (Regina), Katherine Bagwell (Minneapolis) and Phyllis (George) Flaman (Abbotsford, BC); numerous nieces, nephews and cousins locally, across Canada, the United States and England; special friends Craig and Sandy Cook, Myrna Rempel, Colin and Carol Bouvier, Marc and Renee Soucy, and Darrel and Marla Vervalcke, and others too numerous to mention. The Funeral Service will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church, 115 King Street, Lumsden, SK on Friday, June 27, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Marjorie Kent officiating. Lunch will follow at Bethune Community Hall. Interment is in Kedleston Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined.
