Obituary of Eleanor Betker

ELEANOR BETKER September 11, 1917 June 16, 2012 Eleanor passed away peacefully on June 16, 2012. She was born on the family farm near Lemberg, Saskatchewan on September 11, 1917. Predeceased by her parents Alexander and Wilhelmina; brothers, Otto (Joyce), Alexander and Walter Betker; and sister Anne Pearson (Dudley), Eleanor is survived by sister Marlene Betker and sister-in-law Verna Betker both of Regina, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Eleanor attended the one-room Rosewood school followed by high school at Ellisboro in the QuAppelle Valley. She then took a secretarial course at Balfour Technical School in Regina. She worked for the Saskatchewan government for thirty-seven years in the financial departments, first in the Legislative Building and then the Motor License Department. Eleanor excelled at needlepoint and loved to bowl. She was an avid sports fan and watched curling, baseball and football. She and her sister were world travellers. A special thank you goes out to the staff of the Personal Care Home at Broadway Terrace and Wascana Heights House who so lovingly took care of her.
