Obituary of Karl Stromich

KARL STROMICH May 12, 1933 - June 18, 2012 It is with great sadness that the family of Karl Stromich announces his passing after a courageous battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his parents Jakob and Josephine; and brother Edmund Stromich. Karl is lovingly remembered by his wife Dianne; sister in law Maria; nephew John (Susan) and their children Jocelyn and Regan; niece Kathy (Denton); and niece Susan (Steve). Karl was born in Kalusz, Ukraine and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1950, settling in Regina. He spent his career working as a plasterer specializing in ornamental plaster work and took great pride in a job well done. Many of the fine older buildings in Regina bear evidence to his skill. Karl was fond of hunting and fishing, and in 1967 he decided to purchase a lakeside lot at Colesdale Park, Last Mountain Lake. With the help of his brother, he constructed his cottage which became his favorite getaway. He spent many happy summers enjoying the natural surroundings and spending time with his many friends in the park. In 2003, Karl met and fell in love with Dianne at a singles club dance. They celebrated their marriage on July 31, 2010 with friends and family. Although their time together was brief, Karl and Diannes last years together were clearly very happy. The family would like to thank the nursing staff at both the Pasqua Hospital and Regina Wascana Grace Hospice who provided exemplary care through this difficult time. We want to also thank close family and friends who were there during this time of sorrow. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Little Flower R.C. Church, 420 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Friday, June 22, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Barry J. Anwender. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. Flowers are gratefully declined.
