Our deep condolences to all the family. I have many memories of Winfried as a young girl - him trying to teach me German and how he'd like to give me peppermint schnapps. He was always happy and jolly and I don't think I ever saw him sad. Winfried will be missed in body but that big spirit of his will always be with us. Janine Mitchell. Sincerest condolences to Winfried's family on this sad occasion.
We will all miss his infectious laughter a lot. Those of us here in Vancouver will be unable to attend the celebration of his life on Sunday but our thoughts are with you, especially for you - Steffie, Mary and Johnnie - at this time. My mom, Charlotte plans to attend on Sunday to represent our family.

Although Winfried and I have never met, I will always hold a special place in my heart for him. In 2010 I lost my grandmother Gisela to cancer. She kept in contact with her brother in Germany, and he had tried calling her after she passed, but I did not know how to speak German so I couldn't tell him. I called the German club to ask for assistance, and Winfried offered to call him for me and let him know. I will always be greatful to Winfried for that very kind gesture, my family and I will always be thankful for his kind spirit and having the opportunity to cross paths with him, even if it was just over the phone. ❤

I am so sorry to hear of Winfried's passing, he was such a wonderful person, truly one of the most caring people ever. I will miss his warm smiles, big hugs, shots of schnapps, and calling me his treasure. Sending you all my love Knaus family.
