Obituary of Duncan Wildon Allen

DUNCAN WILDON ALLEN March 12, 1918 June 20, 2012 Dunc was a loving husband, father and friend. His gentle and thoughtful nature and his good humour will be missed by all who knew him. Dunc was predeceased by his loving wife of 63 years, Dorothy Eileen Allen (nee Davison). He will be greatly missed by his three children, Donna Jones of Tennessee, Linda Gillies of Vancouver, and Robert (Joyce) Allen of Regina; his four grandchildren, Alan (Renee) Gillies, Stacey (Bobby) Richards, Sarah (Greg) Buchan and Bradley Allen; his eight great-grandchildren, B.J. and Bradley Richards, Sydney, Logan, Jake and Shelby Gillies, Addey and Keeley Buchan; and his sister Jean Doubleday of Vancouver. Dunc was born, raised, and educated in Regina. He served in World War II from 1939 to 1945 with the Royal Canadian Navy. Some memorable events of his war service include the Battle of the Atlantic and the sinking of the Bismarck. He became a Commissioned Officer in 1964. Upon his return from the War, he joined Regina City Light and Power, which later became a part of SaskPower, where he worked until his retirement in 1977. In retirement, Dunc and Dot enjoyed many winters in Hawaii. The family wishes to recognize the kindness and compassion shown by the Palliative Care Team, Dr. Rayson, Dr. Lyster and the Nursing Staff of the Oncology Ward 3B, Pasqua Hospital. A Celebration of Life and Interment will be held at a later date. Those wishing to make donations in memoriam may do so to the Oncology Ward 3B, Pasqua Hospital, 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, Saskatchewan, S4T 1A5. Dunc will be forever cherished and lovingly remembered by his family and friends.
