Obituary of Martin Zver

MARTIN ZVER

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and very special Uncle, Martin Zver, on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at the age of 86 years. Martin was born on October 26, 1925 in Lipa, Slovenia. He was predeceased by his parents, Stefan and Ana Zver; brothers, Franc of Australia, Stefan of France and Josef and Janez of Slovenia. Martin is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Alojzija "Louise"; son Frank (Janice) Zver; daughters, Erica (Don) Fletcher and Joanna Zver (Jason); and his five grandchildren, Lisa, Aimee, Michelle and Jeremy Zver, and Allison Fletcher, all of Regina. Martin is also survived by his sister Ana Vucko of Slovenia; sister-in-law Rosa Lulik of Regina; and very special nieces and nephew Irene Lulik (Denny) of Chilliwack, BC, Emil (Debbie) Lulik of Regina and Maria (Frank) Stemberger of Vegreville AB; as well as many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly in Slovenia, France and Australia. Dad missed his family in Slovenia and always wished to go back and visit again, but in his later years, he chose not to travel. Instead, he enjoyed being at home visiting with family and friends, especially with his grandchildren, he had a very special bond with each one. The last few years Dad enjoyed participating in many of the programs offered by the Core Ritchie Community Centre. Many thanks from the family go out to the staff at the community centre for keeping both Dad and Mom active in various programs and taking good care of them! Dad made lifelong friends that he treasured, who will miss his friendship and humour. He always placed family first, and helped out anyone whenever asked. Martin/Dad/Grandpa will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Prayers will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Little Flower R.C. Church, 420 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Friday, June 29, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Barry Anwender celebrant.
