Obituary of Thomas Palyga

THOMAS PALYGA March 10, 1928 June 24, 2012 Tom Palyga passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at Pasqua Hospital at the age of 84 years. He will be dearly missed by his wife Anne; his daughters Paula (David) and Kathy; and his grandchildren, Andrea and Peter Demers. He was predeceased by his brother, Joe Palyga. Many will remember Tom from his years behind the prescription counter running Palyga Drugs on 5th Avenue, where he enjoyed visiting with customers and friends. Tom was also a member of several community organizations, including the Ukrainian Orthodox Mens Association of Regina (TYC) (a founding member) and the Kiwanis Club. He was an avid hockey and football fan, spending one season in his youth as a Saskatchewan Roughrider. The family would like to recognize the care of Dr. D. Kothare and the nursing staff at the Internal Medicine ward (3D) at Pasqua Hospital. Requiem (Panachyda) will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. and the Funeral Rite will be held on Friday, June 29, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Both services will be held at the Descent of the Holy Spirit Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 1305 12th Avenue Regina, SK with Very Rev. Archpriest Slawomir Lomaszkiewicz officiating.
