Obituary of Lillian Elsie Girbav

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Elsie. Elsie was born in Regina, SK on February 8, 1926 to Flora and Yule Ursulescu. Elsie was their only daughter with four younger brothers, one who died of the flu in infancy. She was raised on the farm and learned the value of hard work and love of family. At the age of fifteen she went to Normal School and by the age of seventeen Elsie was off teaching school to other children, some not much younger than herself. She loved teaching. In 1951, at the age of twenty-five, she married her sweetheart and the love of her life, Norman. They settled down in the community of Avonlea, SK to raise their family over the next 47 years. Elsie was predeceased by her husband, Norman; her son, Kenneth; her parents, Yule and Flora and her four brothers. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Frances Forbes; her granddaughter, Danielle Windsor; and her nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at 3:30 p.m. A private family interment will take place in Avonlea at a later date. Special thank you to Dr. Prasad and the staff at Regina General Hospital Dialysis Unit for their dedication to Elsie over the years. In lieu of flowers, donations in Elsie’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 279 3rd Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK, S7K 2H8.
