Obituary of Harvey Henry Becker

HARVEY HENRY BECKER Harvey was born at Main Centre on October 13, 1931 to parents Henry and Helene Backer. Growing up in the Depression era on the farm, Harvey learned at an early age the value of hard work. Educated at Main Centre and later in Swift Current, he graduated Grade 12 in 1948. Soon after graduation he began work with PFRA, and later was hired with Saskatchewan Government Telephones as a Cableman's Helper. Harvey was married to his life-long love Evelyn in 1953, a marriage lasting until her passing in 2005. He worked at various locations during his career; Weyburn, Chaplain, Outlook and finally Regina in 1965, where he joined head office of the newly renamed SaskTel. Harvey excelled at budgets and results, earning a high degree of respect at the higher levels of the company for accuracy and knowledge. After retiring, he and his wife started the family business Affinity's Antiques in 1986. Over the years Harvey was known for his love of auctions, running flea markets at White City, a skilled handyman, mechanic, furniture restorer, clock repair, and always willing to help others. Harvey was taken from us as the result of a massive stroke on Sunday, August 12, 2012 passing peacefully, in the presence of his sons. Survived by sisters Edna and Doris; brother Marvin; his loving sons Byron and Trent; the many relatives on his wife's side; and numerous friends. Space prevents us from listing all the fine individuals who supported and have made this difficult time much easier. We thank them all. He is in the arms of Evelyn now, happy and free.
