It is with profound sadness that our family announces the passing of Cornelius on Friday, September 16, 2016 at the age of 80 years. He will be lovingly remembered by Norma, his wife of 58 years; daughters, Brenda (Guy) Tallman and their children, David, John, Will, and Emma and Leslie (Michael) Griffin and their children, Laura, Sean, and Ryan all of Regina; son Murray (Hisae) Toews and their daughter, Kaye of Tokyo; his sister Irma (Frank) Gerbrandt of Saskatoon; sister-in-law Doreen Kowbel of Edmonton, AB; brother-in-law John (Lynn) Sinclair of Vancouver, BC; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many cherished friends. Cornelius was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Margreta; his sister Margie (Beno) Enns; brother-in-law Johnny Kowbel; and infant son Jeffrey. Cornelius was born and raised in Saskatoon and attended Bedford Road Collegiate where he met Norma, the love of his life, soulmate, and best friend. He obtained his LL.B. in 1961 from the University of Saskatchewan. After graduation, he moved to Regina with his young family and began his long and successful legal career in private practice. From 1982 - 1987 he served as Chief Judge of the Provincial Court of Saskatchewan, after which he returned to private practice until his retirement. Cornelius’s many interests included the love of music, art, books, sports, and the Riders. He and Norma enjoyed traveling, and in recent years their winter home in Mexico, where they made many special friends. Cornelius was a dear and devoted Dad and proud Grandpa. He supported and encouraged his grandchildren in all their endeavours. Cornelius loved his family more than anything and he was always supportive and understanding. We are so fortunate to have had him in our lives. He will be missed beyond words. Memorial Service will be held at Lakeview United Church, 3200 McCallum Avenue, Regina, SK on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park.
