Obituary of Catherine Louise Metz

CATHERINE LOUISE METZ Catherine, late of Regina, SK passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at the age 106 years to join her parents Moritz (Moy) and Louise (Lilly) Metz, sisters Collette, Lucille, Marjorie, Mary, Evelyn and Joan and special great-nephew Paul in Paradise. She leaves behind her sister Mildred Lenz; brother Maurice Metz; special nephews Greg, Rob, Tom and John and their families; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Catherine was born December 30, 1910 and grew up in Wilcox, SK. She was a member of the first graduating class of Athol Murray College of Notre Dame. Catherine found her passion as a teacher, a job she proudly held for forty five years. She started her career at the Hunt Rural School and later in her career she moved to Regina to teach for Regina Catholic Schools (Sacred Heart, Holy Rosary and then finally St. Joseph school). After her retirement from teaching, Catherine travelled the world visiting all seven continents in her many travels and was always ready to share her favorite stories. Catherine has long been the Metz family historian, keeping up the contacts of a family spread across North America. Her last years were difficult ones as she had to give up her independence, something she had long held fast to. Many thanks to the staff of Riverbend for the past few years, to the Regina General CSU and to Pioneer Village who have made her last few days comfortable. “I put my trust” Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Martin de Porres R. C. Church, 4720 Castle Road, Regina, SK on Monday, February 27, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39.
