Obituary of William Kram

WILLIAM BILL? KRAM Bill passed away suddenly and peacefully on Monday, November 21, 2011 at the age of 93. He was predeceased by his wife Elsie (2006), son Ronald William (2008), his parents Rudolph and Rose, sisters Rose and Mary and brothers Jake and Charlie. He is survived by his son-in-law John, grandchildren Caroline and Tyler, his son Larry (Lee) their children Ryan and Chelsea, his daughter Lenna Kozan, her son Paul (Andrea), their daughters Sara, Holland, Ellison and Grace, daughter Lara (Ryan) their daughter Jaia and son Stephen (Jenna) as well as sister Freda (Cliff) Shaw and brother Len (Lorna) Kram, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Dad was born in 1918 and spent his early years in Kendal, SK. He moved with his parents to Regina in 1938. Dad met Mom in Regina in 1940 and shortly after he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He and Mom married in 1942. Dad spent his war years in Europe as a Flight Navigator on transport missions, flying to many exotic places in Europe and North Africa. After the war, he and Mom settled in Regina to raise their family. Dad joined the Regina Fire Department in 1946, retiring in 1982 as a Battalion Chief. He developed and maintained many long term friendships with his co-workers. For most of his family life Dad was constantly on the go. Dad thoroughly enjoyed working in the yard, particularly tending his garden and solving unique challenges in his own practical way. He was a dedicated father, grandfather and great grandfather. Family and friends could always count on Dads help whether he was asked for it or not! He loved to socialize, including dancing, having coffee with friends or striking up a conversation with a stranger. He and Mom had many friends and over the years they loved going to Legion dances or holidaying together in various warm locales. Dads later years became a struggle as his eyesight and hearing deteriorated, but his mental alertness did not. To his credit, he continued to be a good sport and always looked forward to family gatherings. He deeply touched and was loved by everyone in his family and many others who had the good fortune to get to know him. A Memorial Service to celebrate Dads life and memory will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Saturday, November 26, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Royal Canadian Legion, 1820 Cornwall Street, Regina, SK, S4P 2K2, or a charity of your choice would be welcomed.
