Obituary of Dorothy Jean Grierson

DOROTHY JEAN GRIERSON Dorothy, born February 6, 1941, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at the Pasqua Hospital Palliative Care Unit. She was predeceased by her parents Lloyd and Kathleen (Vance) Grierson and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Dorothy is survived by cousins, Helen Van Alstine (Jim), Carol Bevis, Norma Vance and by special friends, Lynne Demeule, Florence Matt and Brad Stovra. Dorothy was born in Bethune and lived in Disley, Lumsden and Regina all her life. She was proud of the 31 years she worked at the Medicare Department with the Department of Health in Regina. She enjoyed watching the Saskatchewan Roughriders and writing letters to Rob Vanstone at the Leader Post with her words of wisdom. She had season tickets for many years and attended the 1966 Grey Cup game in Vancouver and the 1995 game in Regina. Dorothy also enjoyed travelling and had many trips with her mother. These included trips to Hawaii, Las Vegas (where she saw her favorite singer Elvis), Alaska, the Panama Canal and various spots in the United States and Canada. Special thanks to all her care givers over the years, especially the Saskatchewan Abilities Council. Dorothy was born with cerebral palsy. She coped with those challenges with determination and achieved many of her goals in life. By her request, there will be no funeral service. A gathering to celebrate Dorothys life will be planned for a later date. Interment in Bethune Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
