Obituary of James Stirling Murphy

JAMES STIRLING MURPHY December 30, 1940 November 24, 2011 James passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 24, 2011 at home and in the presence of loving family. James is predeceased by his father James, mother Maitland, brother Alan and son in infancy Alan. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 48 years Lillian; children Shirley, Paul, James and Arlene; grandchildren Derek, Brendan, Mariea and Kaley. James is also survived by stepmother Mary (Molly) of Clydebank, Scotland; brother Kenneth (Ginger) of Indianapolis, IN; sister Karen (Paul) of Torrance, Scotland as well as many extended family members in the U.S.A., Canada and Scotland. James was born in Glasgow, Scotland and spent many of his formative years in Old Kilpatrick, Scotland eventually moving to Clydebank, Scotland. It was here that he apprenticed as a tool and die maker at Singers Sewing Machine factory and met his best friend and wife Lillian whom he married in February 1963. James also worked at Chrysler Corporation for many years until emigrating from Scotland to Canada in 1975. James settled in Regina, SK and it is here that he lived and worked except for short periods of time spent living in Brampton, ON and Langley, BC. In Regina, James worked for a couple of years for IPSCO (now Evraz Steel) and then 20 years or so for Ralph McKay Industries Inc. until for health reasons had to take early retirement in 2000. A Celebration of Life will be held at Speers Family Centre, 2333 Cornwall Street, Regina, SK on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 3:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of James may be made to Rajput Parkinson Related Disease Research Endowment RUH Foundation, Rm 1663 103 Hospital Drive, Saskatoon, SK S7N 0W8.
