Obituary of Thomas Morton Shapiro

Thomas Morton Shapiro was born on December 31, 1955 to Jewish parents in Toronto.  He attended elementary school and high school in the city of Toronto until Grade 9.

Tom had a career as a lighting and sound technician for music and theatre for many years.  He worked in cities such as Toronto, Vancouver and Regina.  Tom married Roberta ‘Bobbi’ Wilhelm in 2000.  They shared life together for 10 years.

Tom came to faith in Jesus at the age of 16 years.  Though he wandered far from the Lord, the Lord never let go of him.  He was baptized by immersion and became a member of Parliament Community Church in Regina on March 27, 2011.  Tom underwent spiritual renewal following his baptism and grew deeper in his faith.

Tom is remembered as a true and genuine friend.  He was always ready to help those he knew and he had an eye for those in need of some kindness.  Tom’s health worsened in the last two years.  He had a failing heart and was in and out of hospital.

He entered the presence of His Saviour on Wednesday, September 6, 2017.  Tom is survived by his father Jack and two sisters Phyllis and Shelley, all of Ontario, as well as other relatives and friends.

Tom passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 in Regina, SK at the age of 61 years.

A Memorial Service will be held to honor his life at Parliament Community Church, 4011 Pasqua St., Regina, SK on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.
