Obituary of Nora Marie Goldie

NOVEMBER 23, 1924 – NOVEMBER 17, 2017

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Nora Marie Goldie (nee Garvey) on Friday, November 17, 2017, at her home at Wintergreene Estates, just shy of her 93rd Birthday. Nora was born in 1924 in a farm house at St. Andrew’s, a Scottish settlement south of Wapella, SK.  She started her working career at the Army and Navy and Dorothy Gould’s Clothing when she moved to Regina in 1945.  She worked many years in the chiropractic offices of Dr. Rafe and Gord Chadwick and Dr. Bill Goldie and Dr. Moe Moffatt. Nora married Dr. George William (Bill) Goldie in 1973. Nora took great pleasure in the many rounds of golf she enjoyed with Bill at the Royal Regina Golf Course. She is survived by her sister Eleanore Bobbee; brother Bernie Garvey; sisters-in-law Muriel Garvey and Laura Garvey; stepchildren Ken (Karen) Goldie and Lynn (Jim) Charlton; as well as numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Nora was predeceased by her parents, Cecil Garvey and Marion Miskelly; her husband George William Goldie; grandson Tim Goldie; sisters Katherine, Monica and Marion; brothers Donald, Ted, Edward and foster brother Lawrence Gross; and nephews Brad Garvey and Bryan Garvey. For the last few years, Nora called Heritage House in Wintergreene Estates her home. The family sincerely thanks the staff of Heritage House and Janet Miller, her personal care giver. Their support, consideration and sensitivity helped Nora enjoy her last years feeling cared for and comfortable.  Celebration of Life will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Friday, November 24, 2017 at 1:00 p.m.  Interment in Regina Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nora’s memory may be made to St. Andrews Church Cemetery Fund, Box 55, Wapella, SK, S0G 4Z0 or to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan Inc., 2550 12th Avenue, Regina, SK, S4P 3X1.
