Obituary of Thomas Allan Countryman
Tom of Wilcox, SK, passed away with family by his side on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at the age of 66 years. Tom was raised in the communities of Maple Creek and Gull Lake, Saskatchewan. He often spoke of his memories of helping his dad in the family bakery, his many friends and playing sports. He married Gail Feil and together they lived in Vegreville and Lloydminster, Alberta where they managed group homes for challenged children and adults. They were also house parents at the Orange Home Farm in Indian Head, SK, where they worked with teenage boys. Tom eventually moved to Wilcox, SK where he started working at Notre Dame College as an Athletic Trainer. This combined his love for kids and sports. It was at this time he completed his training to become a Certified Massage Therapist and during the 1990’s he was fortunate enough to work with the Roughriders during their training camps. Tom’s humour, wittiness, and no nonsense attitude allowed him to connect with many people and make life-long relationships. In the last couple years he made a point of reconnecting with many of these friends and family. Tom was predeceased by his parents Allan and Babe Countryman; and his father and mother-in-law Harry and Florence Feil. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Gail; his step-mother Stella Countryman; his brother Jim (Bonnie) Countryman; his in-laws Shelley (Gord) Kirschman, Darla Feil and Marlin (Barb) Feil; and all of his nieces and nephews, Jim, Tim, Ty, and Craig Countryman, Kerri Robins, Ryley Kirschman, Bretlynn Kolish and Cody and Taylor Osborne. A Graveside Service and Tea in Gull Lake, SK, will be held at later date. Memorial Donations may be made in Tom’s name to Athol Murray, College of Notre Dame, Box 100, Wilcox, SK, S0G 5E0.
