Obituary of Rose Lorraine McInnis

ROSE LORRAINE McINNIS May 3, 1928 December 11, 2011 Rose Lorraine, (fondly known as the little red haired girl?, passed away at the age of 83 years, at the Pasqua Hospital, in the company of her beloved family and a very dear friend, on December 11th, 2011. She had been ill and a spent a good portion of the year in and out of hospital. Lorraine was very stoic and brave and always came through her many major health battles, much to the relief of her family and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John Arthur (Jack), in November, 2005, after a lengthy battle with Parkinsons Disease. She was also predeceased by her parents, Camile Joseph and Hattie Theresa Laboret, of Calgary; three brothers; three brothers-in-law, all of Alberta, and her son-in-law Gordon Stark of Regina. She leaves to mourn her passing, her loving daughter and best friend, Gloria Stark; her devoted son, Robert of Regina, and her loving son, Arthur (Deborah) of Hong Kong, as well as her treasured grandchildren: Michelle (Michael) Rieger of Regina and Whitney and Tristan McInnis of Hong Kong. She is also survived by her loving sisters: Dorothy Harder of Calgary, Darlene Elefsen of Granum, Alberta and Sibyl Campbell of Penticton, B.C., as well as her special sister?, Carole Benner and her family, of Calgary. Lorraine is also survived by her loving brother, Arthur (Arlie) Laboret, also of Calgary. Lorraine was also survived by her brother-in-law, George (Gwen) McInnis of Calgary. She was an integral part of her family and will be truly and deeply missed by all. Lorraine was a beautiful lady with her trademark long red hair. She was a free spirit, full of love and laughter, with a caring and compassionate heart which she showed to all who were lucky enough to know her. She lived for her family and friends and always put their needs before her own. She was a devoted caregiver for ten years to her husband, Jack, who as a resident of Wascana Hospital. While visiting daily at the hospital, she met a lovely group of ladies, who were there visiting their husbands and these ladies became good friends and they would meet for lunches and visits. This was very important to her. This beautiful lady loved animals and for many years enjoyed the company of her two toy poodles, Rusty and Cammy, until a health move made it impossible to have them live with her, so her son, Robert, kindly is fostering the boys? as she always called them. She had a special fondness for a rather large lizard (a bearded dragon), Monty, who belonged to her granddaughter, Michelle. She had a picture of Monty up on her wall unit and enthusiastically showed it off to her visitors. She always looked at the inside beauty? not the outside of both people and animals. This, and many more unique qualities set her apart and made her so special. If anyone needed help of any kind, Lorraine was the first to offer. She would do without something she may need herself to help out someone in need. She was a modest person who did not care for the material things of life. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Moms long time physician, Dr. J. Michael and his wonderful staff at Lakeshore Medical Clinic for all the years of caring for her. Also we would like to extend our gratitude to the doctors; nurses, and all staff members, especially, the members of the hospitalist program, who took superb care of our mother, in the Emergency CSU and the 4th floor staff, the Social Workers and all staff who made it possible for us to have our wonderful mother for as long as possible. A special thank you to the Home Care Team, who helped make Moms fondest wish of independent living come true for as long as possible with their daily visits to her at her apartment. Cremation has already taken place and the arrangements were handled with dignity by the superior staff of Speers Funeral Chapel. A celebration of Moms life will be held in the spring, which was her favorite time of the year. Online condolences can be sent to www.speersfuneralchapel.com and would be gratefully appreciated by her family. MY MOTHERS LOVE Unconditional, pure and never ending is my mothers love. Whether she is here with me on earth or residing in heaven above. Wise, strong, loving, comforting, compassionate and kind, Although she is gone from my presence, she will never leave my mind. FOREVER AND ALWAYS Your daughter, Gloria
