Obituary of Hilda Lillian Nuttall
MARCH 9, 1928 – DECEMBER 28, 2017
It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden, peaceful passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Hilda Lillian Nuttall on Thursday, December 28, 2017. Hilda is survived by daughter Bonnie (Deryl) Williams of Calgary; son Brent (Barb) Nuttall of Regina; much loved and cherished granddaughters, Sarah Williams of Victoria and Jessica Nuttall (Kenton) of Regina; sisters-in-law Sylvia Nuttall of Pense and Jane McWillie of Airdrie, AB; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. Hilda was predeceased by her loving husband of 57 years, Eldon; parents John and Mina McLaughlin; brother Leonard; sister Marjorie; nephews Bill and Bob Titley; sister-in-law Helen Doege; brothers-in-law, Ben Doege, Ronald and Gerald Nuttall; and father and mother-in-law Herbert and Thelma Nuttall. Hilda was born on the family farm in Francis, Saskatchewan, the youngest of John and Mina’s three children. On June 18, 1955 she married Eldon Nuttall and spent the rest of her married life in Pense, raising Bonnie and Brent, working alongside Eldon with the family fuel business and the farm. She was a woman of strong faith and spent many years as a member of St. Andrew’s United Church in Pense, and in later years, Broadway United Church. Next to her faith, family was the centre of Hilda’s life. Her love for family was never ending and only grew stronger with the births of her beloved granddaughters Jessica and Sarah. She was very proud of her Irish Heritage, most evident by all the red haired women in the family. Her warmth, caring and giving generosity was spread throughout to her many friends and felt throughout the Pense community. A year following Eldon’s passing, mom was one of the first residents to move into College Park 2 in Regina. Being the social butterfly that mom was, she soon had lots of new friends to share her love of cards, crafts, puzzles and bingo games. Mom, you were our loving and guiding angel on Earth - we loved you so very much, and you will be so greatly missed. We are comforted to know you are now together again, with Dad in Heaven. The family would sincerely like to thank the staff and residents of College Park 2 for the excellent care given to mom in the last 4 years – she will be greatly missed by her many friends at College Park 2 and those remaining behind in the community of Pense. Visitation for family and friends will be held in the Chapel at College Park 2, 1601 Badham Blvd, Regina, SK, on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 from 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Jim Balfour officiating, lunch to follow. Interment will take place at Cottonwood Cemetery, 8 km north of Pense, SK following fellowship and lunch. Flowers most gratefully declined. Friends so wishing may make donations, in memoriam, to the Regina Humane Society, Box 3143 Stn. Main, Regina, Saskatchewan S4P 3G7.
