Obituary of James M. Karasin

JAMES (JIM) KARASIN 1927 - 2011 Jim passed away suddenly on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 aged 84 years. He was born in Limerick, SK and moved to Regina in 1954 and was co-owner of the mechanical contracting firm Karasin Brothers Limited with several of his family. He was well known and respected by many friends in the business community. Jim was an avid angler and sportsman well into his senior years and had a great affection for the lakes and forests of the northern part of the province. Upon his retirement in 1980 he spent many happy years with his wife Frances at their second home at the resort village of Whelan Bay, SK. In his younger years he also organized many annual fly-in fishing trips to distant lakes in the northern part of province that he enjoyed in the company of friends. Jim is survived by his wife Frances, sons Allan (Anne), Keith (Lois), Kevin, grandson Kirk (Rochelle), three granddaughters, Megann (Jason), Michelle (Dan), Danielle (Warren) and two great grandsons Dashiell and Blake. A Memorial Service for Jim will be held in the spring of 2012. Jim's family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors, nurses and other staff at both the Surgical ICU unit and the Mosaic Heart Centre at the Regina General Hospital, 1440 14th Avenue, Regina, SK, S4P 0W5. In lieu of flowers they ask that a donation be made to either one of these care units. To leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.speersfuneralchapel.com
