Obituary of Elisabeth Johanna Matyas

MARCH 4, 1925 – JANUARY 24, 2018

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of my beloved mother, loving sister and aunt.  Betty passed away peacefully at the age of 92 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.  She was predeceased by her husband Roy; parents John and Eva Sapara; and brother Wilbert Sapara. Elisabeth is survived by her daughter Patricia; sister Diana (Bill) Pozniak; brother Donald  (Janet) Sapara; sister-in-law Mary Sapara; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Betty was a government employee for twenty three years and retired in May 1987.  She was a parishioner at St. Mary’s Parish and president of St. Mary’s CWL for many years. Betty was a kind and caring lady with a heart of gold and zest for life. We will miss her dearly and hold her in our hearts forever. Special thanks to the staff at Centennial Special Care Home for their compassionate care. Funeral Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK, on Monday, January 29, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers those so wishing may make memorial donations in Betty’s name to the Centennial Special Care Home, Box 310, Esterhazy, SK, S0A 0X0.
