Obituary of Joan Ann Clayton

The family of Joan Ann Clayton (nee Snodgrass) sadly announce our dear mothers passing on December 16, 2011 at the age of 68 after complications from cancer surgery. She was predeceased by her parents Cressel and Veronica Snodgrass and her parents in law Ward and Edith Clayton. Joan is survived by her four children: Grant (Marg) of Calgary, AB, Sheila of Regina, Matthew (Ailyn) of Regina and Daniel (Malora) of Wetaskwin, AB; her 9 grandchildren, Janelle, Andrew, Marissa, Layla, Bayly, Anna-Marie, Mason, Ryder and Dexter. Joan leaves behind brother Larry of Vancouver, BC, sister Diana Oftebro of Burnaby, BC, sister Irene (Andy) Heshedahl of Saskatoon, and by brother Lowell (Phyllis) of Saskatoon; by her brothers and sisters in-law Dianne and Gary Minto and Les and Carole Clayton, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Joan was born in Canora, Saskatchewan on July 22, 1943. She grew up on a farm south of Preeceville, Saskatchewan, eventually moving in to the town of Preeceville when she was 12. After high school, Joan moved to Saskatoon to attend nursing school. She married Raymond Clayton in 1963. In 1965, Joan and her family moved to Regina where she has remained since. Joan was a very good housewife and wonderful mother to her four children. While raising her family, Joan attended some university classes, took violin lessons, did gardening, sewing, pottery and all kinds of crafts. She enjoyed serving the Lord by serving others. At different times, Joan headed the womens auxiliary, the youth young womens and childrens organizations with her church. She served a mission in the Family History Center in Salt Lake City from 2005 to 2006. Joan was a quiet, soft-spoken and gentle person. She especially loved being a grandmother and loved her grandchildren with all her heart. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 550 Sangster Boulevard, Regina, SK with interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park. The family thanks all those who graciously helped in moms time of need with special mention of her sister, Irene.
