Obituary of Ingrid "Ingy" Mary Mayer

INGRID “INGY” MARY MAYER

Ingrid first graced this earth on May 29, 1955. She was reunited with her parents, Rudolf Mayer and Ditgard Schlosser on Tuesday, February 20, 2018. Left to cherish Ingrid’s memory are her siblings, Dieter Treml (Lillian and family), Alan Mayer (Daily Lennox and family), Irene Ferguson (Paul and family), and Joanie Mayer (and family); her daughters, Andrea Legien (Brian and family) and Stephanie Ekes; her son Christian Gifco (beloved pooch PeeWee); and her grandchildren brought into her life both by blood, Skylar and Izabella Hunt (former son in law Stevan Hunt) and by love, Kaitlynn and Jared Legien (current son-in-law Brian Legien). Ingrid had a multi-faceted existence! Each one of her offspring are testament to that. Andrea carries forward her mother’s tenacity and work ethic. Stephanie has her mother’s wittiness and desire to make laughter the forefront of life. Christian lives her love for being outdoors and was blessed with an uplifting soul and heart of gold that mirrors his mother’s. Ingrid’s granddaughters have had her love for the arts bestowed upon them. Sky lives her grandmothers desire to dream big and be self-expressive through the use of artistic mediums. Bella lives her desire to dance - even if no one else can hear the music and has her grandmother’s ability to always see the very best in people. To know Ingrid was to love Ingrid! She made it impossible not to! Often she left us scratching our heads because of her quirky zest for life, her attraction to oddball things, and all things that sparkle! Thus earning her the term of endearment “Magpie”. She certainly did shine brightly! Not only was she stunning to look at, but the person she was on the inside made her most attractive. Her vibrant blue eyes honed in on little things that most wouldn’t have given much thought to. Ingrid always had a strong desire to show others those little things that captivated her through all of the pictures she took! She was little and feisty! Always up for a good debate and standing strong beside the underdog! Ingrid was funny, a free spirit, and generous with all that she had! Especially her great advice! She loved long conversations and connecting with people! Ingrid earned the admiration and respect of many in her lifetime. She was very well known for her daily slogan “Have a great day and buy someone a coffee!” In lieu of cards and flowers, the family requests that you honour her memory by following through with her favourite Random Act of Kindness! At Ingrid’s request, there will be no funeral service. Special acknowledgement is given to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the Pasqua hospital.
