Obituary of Audrey Joan Zahorski

AUDREY ZAHORSKI

(née RUMP)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother, Grandmother, and Sister in the early hours of Friday, February 23, 2018 at the age of 83. Audrey is survived by her daughter, Dawn (Larry) Schmalenberg of Cochrane, AB and their children, Kellie (Gabe) Goldberg of Calgary and Leah Schmalenberg of California; son Greg (Dawne) Zahorski and their children, Lucas Zahorski and Tessa Zahorski of Regina; sister Judy Forster and Phil Moynihan of Regina Beach; nephews, Blair (Alisha) Forster of Regina, Brad (Leah) Forster of Lumsden, Terry Zahorski of Saskatoon; and great-grandchildren, Kai and Anika Goldberg.  She was predeceased by her loving husband, Ted Zahorski in 1997; parents Phil and Mary Rump; and stepmother, Kay Rump. Audrey treasured her times spent with her family. Many “good times” were had at Regina Beach. Audrey will always be remembered for being an avid gardener, for having a special place in her heart for animals, especially her dogs, and of course for that hearty laugh/snort and that renowned dance move. She was also passionate about the Sask. Roughriders and Toronto Blue Jays. Born and raised in Regina, Audrey attended St. Joseph Elementary School and Balfour Technical Collegiate.  After graduation she worked at SaskTel and Principal Trust. The family would like to thank the staff of Victoria Park Personal Care Home for the wonderful care, kindness, and attention they provided her.  Special thanks also goes out to the doctors and nurses on Unit 5F, Regina General Hospital for the extra special care shown during Audrey’s last eight days. There will be no funeral, but an intimate private family service and interment at Riverside Memorial Park at a later date. For those wishing to make a charitable donation in Audrey’s memory please do so to Regina Humane Society, Inc., Box 3143, Regina, SK S4P 3G7.
