HELEN GAILENE FENWICK Dec 31, 1941 Dec 24, 2011 Gailene, 69, of Regina, SK, passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2011. She was predeceased by her father Earl in 1984, her sister Marlene in 1988, and her mother Helen in 2006. She is survived by her brother, Dennis Fenwick, nieces Joanne (Greg) and Catherine Massig and Marie (Sean, great nephews Liam and Declan) and Louise Fenwick, and nephews Patrick and Andrew Fenwick. Gailene led a rich and full life. Born December 31, 1941 in Regina, she received her Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education (with distinction) degrees from the University of Saskatchewan. She loved both teaching and learning. Gailene taught in Chile with CUSO, in Australia and South Africa. She finished her teaching career at North Battleford. She was an early adopter of computers and the Web in education. In her travels she explored the world from Sweden to the tip of South America. Bike trips in Canada and the United States were common. She passed decades of summers at Lumsden Beach, a very special place for all of the family. After her retirement, Gailene worked with Hansard. She continued to pursue her interests in travel, photography, flowers and cats. While fully aware of her terminal trials, Gailene was able to maintain her typical good humour and sharp mind. At the end, as her life was passing from her, she was at peace and comfortable. Gailene and her family greatly appreciated the wonderful and generous support of friends during her last ordeal. Thanks to all those who provided care and assistance at the General Hospital and the Palliative Care Unit of the Pasqua Hospital. Gailenes last days were spent under the superb care of those at Regina Wascana Grace Hospice. A Service of Remembrance will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to may donate, in memoriam, to a charity of their choice.
