Obituary of Ernest Paul Joseph Audette

ERNEST PAUL AUDETTE January 9, 1947 December 29, 2011 Ernie passed away peacefully with family by his side on Thursday, December 29, 2011. He was predeceased by his parents Paul and Simone, brothers Andrew and Mark, brothers-in-law George Donauer and Garry Wetterstrand, and niece Denise Donauer. Ernie is survived by his wife of 41 years Carol; son Rodney (Shauna), daughters Michelle (Don), Angela and Kim; grandchildren Matthew, Jennifer, Hannah, Shaelyn, Jackson, Kendall and Kristen. Ernie is also survived by his sisters Rolande (Jack) Lorge, Pauline Donauer, Gil (Tony) Herback and Myrtle Levesque; sisters-in-law Carol Audette and Kelly (Brian) Shore; brothers Gerald (Sandy), Dennis (Audrey), Chuck (Jean) and Jeff (Stephanie). He grew up and was schooled in Shaunavon and graduated from the University of Regina. Upon obtaining his University Degree, Ernie completed the Local Government Administration course from the University of Regina in 1968 and began a 43 year career as a municipal administrator with time spent in Lacadena, Elrose, Imperial, Climax, Strasbourg, Uranium City and for 32 years in Milestone. Upon retiring, Ernie assisted in the communities of Rouleau, Grand Coulee and was the administrator for the Village of Lang up until the time of his death. Ernie was very active in the community belonging to the Lions, Elks and participating in various sporting activities. He coached and managed numerous hockey, baseball and softball teams during his childrens sports years. In Milestone, Ernie played an integral part of the organizing and building committees for the ball diamond sports area and the skating and curling rink complex of which he was very proud. Ernie was active throughout his life in sports, playing many years of competitive baseball and hockey culminating in numerous years with the Milestone Sioux, where his special white gloves helped him with his many francophone records with the Old Sioux. Ernie enjoyed golf, fishing and sports in general. His many loves in the last 30 years were his golfing trips south of the border with his brother Dennis, Tuesday night mens night at the Long Creek Gold Club, annual trips to Laughlin for fun not in the sun, Christmas brunches at the skating rink with all his family, and the Audette Family Golf Classic to which he holds Mens Championship records for tales told and balls lost. The family would like to thank all the staff at the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, Palliative Care Ward at the Pasqua Hospital and a special thank you to Dr. Matt Casey for all his support. Big Ern (Papa Ern) will be lovingly cherished by his family and friends. The true joys of his life were his wife, children and grandchildren of which he was so extremely proud. Prayers will be said at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. The Celebration of his Life will be held at Holy Family Parish, 1021 McCarthy Blvd., Regina, SK, on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Reception will follow immediately at Milestone Memorial Complex, Milestone, SK. In lieu of flowers, the family is kindly requesting that a donation in Ernies memory be made to the Milestone Memorial Centre, Box 211, Milestone, SK, S0G 0L0.
